Your Voice Matters, Even When No One Applauds

(This is part 3 of my Sacred Visibility Series. You can read part 1 here and part 2 here.)
I used to equate attention with affection and performance with belonging.
Now I understand visibility as a relationship that requires listening, presence and integration as much as expression. This is how you show up in life without abandoning yourself.
For many of us, the earliest evidence that we were doing something “right” came through applause, accomplishment and praise. Gold stars. Being a good daughter or son. The responsible one. The one who didn’t need anything.
So, of course, when we start sharing our work publicly, our nervous system looks for the same kind of validation.
Likes. Comments. Faces in the room nodding back at us.
It feels like safety and affirmation, but approval is not the same as connection.
The Need for Approval Keeps You Feeling Invisible
I remember finishing a talk and immediately scanning the room for signs of approval. Waiting to know if I had “done well,” if I was “enough,” if the effort was “worth it.”
I didn’t realize at the time that I was treating external response as proof of internal worth. It was exhausting, and ironically, it kept me disconnected from the very people I wanted to reach.
The shift began the day a woman approached me after a presentation on positioning strategies. Several people signed up for consultations on the spot. Yet she waited patiently until the crowd thinned, then leaned in and said, “You’ve given me so much hope.”
What?!
This was not emotional storytelling or an experiential workshop. This was straight-up strategic content, yet something else reached her.
She didn’t hire me or leave a testimonial on the speaker feedback form. There was no metric to capture her response, yet it landed in my body and soul in a way that none of the typical success metrics ever had.
Here’s what I’ve come to understand since then:
Real impact is success. Meaning, how your presence opens others.
And that impact happens in the energy field.
Visibility is More than Metrics
Yes, metrics matter. They help you understand what actions are working (or not). The resounding applause? Your fans and followers? Your growing bank account? These reflect resonance and momentum, but that information is not a scorecard for your inherent value.
This has taken me decades to unwind and integrate.
I know what it’s like to rely on external validation and pursue goals only when I knew I would succeed. That made sense based on how I learned to survive early in life. Then came that moment when I realized I could choose differently.
Sacred visibility is devotion. You offer the message because it is yours to offer, and you trust Source to guide it to those who are ready.
So, here are a couple of questions to consider with loving curiosity:
Where are you still using attention, agreement and approval to fuel your visibility?
Who do you get to be when the message matters more than how you’re received?
Because real impact feels like expansion in your heart, release in your body, and reverence in your soul.
That’s the kind of transformation that can’t be counted, yet it’s always felt.
